Monday Evening Classes at Speedoggie


Foundation: Obstacle Skills, Handling Technique and Application 
This 6 week class focuses on maintaining obstacle and contact performance criteria at speed as well as developing and polishing handling techniques. Obstacle and contact performance development and proofing as well as teaching your dog how to accurately read cues are all part of the curriculum of this class. Young dogs, pre-competition and competition level dogs are all welcome.

Master Handling & Course Work 
This 6 week class focuses on master level challenges and in depth course analysis for AKC, USDAA, and UKI course challenges. From the “meat and potatoes” basic handling to combination maneuvers and more complex international style handling, this class covers it all. Handling for ahead and/or behind the dog and lateral distance included. Advanced/Masters competition level dogs are welcome.

Tuesday Evening Classes at Speedoggie



Distance Skills & Handling
This 6 week class focuses on teaching dogs to work independently away from their handlers with confidence. We will also focus on teaching handlers how to navigate their dogs through sequences handling their dogs from a distance using clear and timely signals.

Thursday Evening Classes at Speedoggie


Contacts & Weaves Skills
This 6 week class focuses specifically on improving your contact and weavepole obstacle commitment, independence and in sequence accuracy. Dogs with all styles of contacts (stopping, moving and running) are welcome. All performance levels covered, including competition, pre-competition as well as problem solving.

Chris Ott is a full time dog agility instructor and trainer as well as a canine bodywork and functional fitness coach. In her three decades of experience training dogs, Chris has lived with and trained 19 dogs of 7 different breeds accumulating dozens of championships in multiple venues. She is also an award winning author of dog training and sport conditioning materials as well as an international seminar presenter. Chris worked as Team Coach for the USA/AKC World Agility Junior Team for three years. She is also one of the top breeders of performance Border Collies in the USA with multiple dogs of her breeding being selected to represent the USA at FCI World Championships, European Open and Crufts as well as winning National Agility Championships in multiple venues. Chris’ training school, Speedoggie Performance Dog Training, has been turning out successful dog agility and canine performance teams for 35 years. Her newest venture Total Team K9 Functional Fitness works with performance teams of many sports to improve balance, strength and body awareness, reduce injuries related to performance and increase mental and physical stamina in both dogs and handlers. Chris is also the co-developer of Total Team’s Puppy Journal, an online resource documenting her and her partner Frankie Joiris’ ground breaking puppy rearing and raising program. Chris is a full time facility member of Agility University’s online training program, a long time member of IACP, APDT and NADOI and is a Certified Master Fitness Trainer.

Well known for her in-depth knowledge of dog breeds and how best to train dogs with specific genetic traits, dozens of Chris’ students regularly represent their individual breeds each year at the prestigious AKC/Eukanuba National Agility Invitational. Many of these students hold multiple places in the nations top 5 of their breed. Chris works with all breeds of dogs including mixed breeds at all levels of training and all ages. Her training program has proven itself over the years to produce dogs that run and play in agility well into their senior years while remaining sound and healthy throughout their careers. Many of Chris' senior dogs (both her own and her students) are still very competitive in the championship programs of AKC, UKI, FCI and USDAA as well as other nationally recognized programs such as NADAC, CPE and DOCNA. Chris is also known for her problem solving skills and customizing training programs to fit each teams individual needs. She has produced record breaking speeds in agility while maintaining safe performances and soundness in dogs. Her ground breaking Yoga Fusion© and Fit To Be Tricked© fitness training programs take the games of canine performance to a whole new level with specific exercises for dogs and handlers to build better teams from the inside out.


Chris is always on the cutting edge of our sport and encourages thinking outside the box to improve the game as we know it. She also spends hundreds of hours a year continuing her education in both dog behavior and performance as well as adult (human) learning to better help all of her students regardless of their learning styles. Her three decades of experience coupled with her outstanding accomplishments and those of her students makes her one of the highest qualified instructors in our sport.
